Biography

Edelbert Cypher is a very ambivalent figure of Assiah's history.

Although he was a traitour, he allowed Empyres to grow powerful enough to conquer the continent.

Once he had been a scientist of the Ondorian Kingdom and belonged to a small group of scholars who were meant to improve Ondora's wargear. Unlike his colleagues he was also interested in political issues. More than one time he was admonished because of unallowed criticism. His unhappiness grew and eventually he decided to leave the kingdom in 1002. Already for years he had sympathised with the small city state of Empyres. Thus he offered his knowledge about Ondora's technologies for asylum.

Logically Empyres was highly interested in the information Cypher offered them.

So they made him the head of their own research staff although under permanent controle. 

When the king's trust in ihm grew, Cypher was even allowed to study Edeni artifacts hidden in Empyres' treasure chambers. Thanks to his researchs the city was able to surpass even Ondora's technological level and to build devices that had never been seen before. 

The creation of the first functional airship called "Ikarus", even the foundation of the Empyrian Empire would have been impossible without Cypher's treachery.
