TOPICS
The symposium committee solicits presentations with Secure Electronics Services
Delivery in mind. Topics of specific interest include but are not limited to:
- applications of cryptography;
- electronic commerce;
- network and internet security;
- information warfare;
- developmental assurance;
- security implications in rapid application development;
- threats, vulnerabilities and the management of risk;
- standards and common criteria;
- legal, law enforcement and privacy issues;
- training and education; and
- research and development.
The symposium committee is looking for the following types of submissions in the areas of
interest listed above:
- formal papers for the general and technical tracks;
- vendor presentation proposals for the vendor track;
- proposals for tutorials; and
- suggestions for panels.
GENERAL AND TECHNICAL TRACK
In order to continue a commitment to quality, while recognizing the effort associated
with the production of quality submissions, authors may submit:
- a complete paper (is encouraged and will receive first consideration);
- a detailed outline; or
- an abstract.
Highest scoring papers will be those that:
- present approaches to improving our technology infrastructure through Secure Electronic Service Delivery;
- describe original research in the ITS field; and
- describe projects in-place, in-progress or have received funding.
VENDOR TRACK
Vendor track submissions should consist of a detailed outline. Vendor presentations should
describe innovative product implementations in actual systems or applications. Presenters
describing Secure Electronic Service Delivery will be of particular interest.
Presentations that simply describe product features will not be selected.
FORMAT OF TRACK SUBMISSIONS
- All presentations must be non-sensitive to disclosure (ie. unclassified and undesignated in their entirety).
- Presentation is to be 30 minutes in duration including question/answer period
- English or French is acceptable.
COMPLETE PAPERS (Given first consideration)
- Maximum 25 pages in length, including a one-paragraph abstract;
- Word, WordPerfect or ASCII format;
- Author information (One page only) consisting of:
- primary and secondary author(s) and job title(s) (If presenter is different from the primary author, please indicate and include all the same information.);
- title of paper/presentation and area of interest;
- recommended track (General, Technical or Vendor);
- mailing and courier addresses;
- telephone and fax numbers;
- e-mail address, if applicable.
DETAILED OUTLINE
- Cover page including the author information as above;
- Two or three pages in length;
- Should cover major points and conclusions in sufficient detail for committee assessment.
PANEL SUGGESTIONS
Panel suggestions should include a concise description of the topic in a short paragraph,
its relevance to this conference and recommendations for panellists.
TUTORIAL PROPOSALS
Proposals for full-day or half-day tutorials must include:
- tutorial title
- objectives
- a detailed outline
- cost to include two master copies of the student slides and notes.*
- a short instructor(s) resumé
- credentials
- mailing and e-mail address
- telephone and fax number
* The cost of printing student handouts will be undertaken by the Symposium.
DATES TO REMEMBER
- 15 October, 1997 -- Deadline for ALL submissions.
- 30 October, 1997 -- YOU should receive confirmation of our receiving your submission.
- 15 November, 1997 -- Instructors of selected tutorials will be notified.
- 1 December, 1997 -- Authors of selected papers will be notified.
- 15 January, 1998 -- FINAL papers to be delivered to CSE (If this deadline is not met your paper may not be included in the CD-ROM (only in the hardcopy proceedings).
