The Magistrate by Lionus

The Magistrate by Lionus (2004)

"Like time travelers they look back at us from a decorative wall mural cracked and darkened by centuries of time gone past."

Double Portrait of a Magistrate and His Son, mural painting from a house in Pompeii.
From the fragmentary evidence left to us the house may have belonged to the slave dealer, Tertellus Publio and his brother the magistrate Tertellus Gaius Lepidus. The symbols of learning -- the scroll, the wax tablet and the stylus -- would indicate this to be the portrait of the magistrate himself and a younger male, presumably his son. (Naples, Archeological Museum).
