I also used various real-world almanacs, etc. for inspiration -- the Farmer's Almanac (various years) had a great deal to do with weather forecasts, and reprints of old World Almanacs (1880 and a few other years) also inspired a lot of stuff. Other events I took straight out of the news I'd heard that day, with a bit of a twist to make them work in Mystara... (Sorry I didn't reply sooner -- haven't had a chance to check my Wildmule e-mail in a while!) I sent this message to TSRInc@aol.com, and got a favourable reply (in my opinion, anyway. :) ). Take a look for yourself: ----Begin reply quote---- Over the past several months, I compiled a timeline of Mystara's history from as many of the Mystara/Known World/Hollow World/Red Steel products that I can find. I posted this timeline to the Mystara mailing list, and then an updated version after I added some more information. At the time, I wasn't aware that doing so might be a copyright violation. I've stated that I have no claim to the Timeline, and consider it freeware, subject to any and all restrictions that TSR cares to place on it. However, I would like to know just what those restrictions might be. :) If you would like, I can email you a copy of the timeline, and a list of my sources, so you can judge it better. A good portion of it is taken verbatim from the /Gazetteer/ timelines, with additions and paraphrasing from other M/KW/HW/RS products. Daniel - >What would your reaction be if I uploaded a compilation of "The Voyage >of the Princess Ark" logs, the ones not in the Champions of Mystara boxed >set (from Dragon Magazines #153-#168), to the MPGN FTP site? That would be bad, bad, very bad ... only TSR should be uploading official TSR stuff. I have to get clearance from Connie (TSR's lawyer) before uploading anything. >Also, from the verbatim transcript of GAZ13: The Shadow Elves recently >placed there, am I able to assume that all the other out-of-print Known >World accessories will also be placed there by TSR? Actually, the Shadow Elves stuff was revised and put on AOL, so I thought that the Mystara fans would dig it if I put it on MPGN, too. We are planning on putting other old/discontinued/sutff we don't plan to reprint online, but right now I'm focusing on active game lines; I need to meet with my VP & CD about materials from the closed lines. >Finally, are there any specific guidelines as to what "previously >printed" information may be placed there by individuals? None - it's all still copyrighted by TSR (or the author that originally wrote it), and so TSR will be the one updating and uploading that stuff. -- Sean Reynolds, TSR Online Coordinator TSRinc@aol.com | AOL: keyword TSR | http://users.aol.com/tsrinc/ *The Gen Con 1996 registration book is online at the sites above* From TSRInc@aol.comTue Jun 18 00:38:23 1996 Date: Sat, 8 Jun 1996 18:25:02 -0400 From: TSRInc@aol.com To: dboese@freenet.npiec.on.ca Subject: Re: Mystara uploads on MPGN? >Would the timeline of Mystaran history I've compiled from all the >various products be considered "official", or "derivitive" and >uploadable?
