mystara A little thing I wrote I've been thinking about the oD&D Mystara vs. AD&D Mystara, and the various conflicts coming from that (Planescape vs oD&D planes, spelljammers vs airships, etc). And so, without further ado, here is my own little solution to the problem. :) (From the private log of Khoronus, Heirarch Immortal of the Sphere of Time; copied by a daring Korotiku and distributed to the general Immortal populace.) I have finally completed my explorations of all the varying timelines of this world. My alter-egos, when present, were usually quite helpful - but not always. I inadvertantly created several additional timelines when forced to defend myself, destroying - and being destroyed by - my belligerent alternates. [Extensive data on the various timelines removed for brevity.] After returning to what I consider the "true" timeline, I determined to investigate this strange branch of Temporal Prime. Not only does it lead to an alternate future - but an alternate past, as well! [Location of branchpoint, in Khoronus's unique system of detailing alternate timelines, removed. It is equivalent to Midnight, Kaldmont 28, 1011.] (Later entry) I was in error when referring to this universe as an alternate timeline. Although it is reached through Temporal Prime, it is actually another dimension entirely! Although, superficially, it closely resembles the Mystara I know - the same countries and people - on a wider scale it differs starkly. The Five Spheres, however, are less distinct, being closer to philosophical groups of Immortals instead of actual forces. When I attempted to go through the Void to check the local magical flux, I discovered that the entire planetary system is enclosed in some form of bubble, immense beyond belief. Outside of this "crystalline sphere" is a super-flammable substance - and dozens, if not thousands, of other bubbles, each with its own system of planets. My greatest shock came after I returned to "Mystaraspace". I attempted to return to Entrem, Plane of Time, by voyaging through the Astral Plane. The entire Outer Planar System was missing - replaced by a set of seventeen, philosophically-oriented "Planes". [Voyages through the Planescape setting removed for brevity. The high point being the discovery of his doppleganger, a "Power" (although still referred to as an Immortal on Mystara).] After returning to Pandius, we had a long discussion comparing our respective dimensions. Surprisingly, the histories of our two worlds matched precisely - from the recent wars to the placing of the Brute-Men in the Hollow World. The major differences were in the rules that
