Samples of/on Writing by S. Andrew Swann

My agent said that I should put up samples of my writing up on my page. The logic is unassailable, but I've been notoriously timid about placing copyrighted stuff on the net. However, after a long conversation about enticing readers, she's conned me :) So I've put up sample chapters to Emperors of the Twilight and Profiteer here. Both are in print, and can be ordered through Amazon.com if you're really hooked by what I've put on-line.

I am not much of a short-story writer, I've only had two short-story sales to my name-- and one was to Pulphouse right before it went under. My other story is titled "The Long View" and appeared in Amazing, in its second to last issue. I've placed my short-story output on hold until I can shake this curse, there are few enough markets for short fiction. . .

Because I make a living writing, occasionally I've been asked to talk to a class, based on the assumption that I know what I'm doing. Since I'm usually paid for this service, I don't challenge those assumptions. I've adapted some of my talks and placed them here. Don't expect profound revelations, mostly it's a statement of what I consider to be obvious.
