I wish to talk to anyone interested OR invloved in this subject about what controllers you are using....I have the hardware down and know what I want the controller to do but havent really run across one (yet!) that does what I need. I currently own a ACC RC850 that of course doesnt address full duplex multisite linking well (NO site prefix codes) and am testing a Link Communications RLC II that belongs to a friend of mine in Austin...The board CAN handle full duplex backbone linking BUT the basic controller sucks...the speech syn. is TOO MUDDY (esp when compared to my RC850!)...yes even the female voice is fuzzy!....and the audio network leaves something to be desired in levels and fidelity......I have to turn it up ALL the way on TX audio to get decent modulation in my GE MSTR EXEC II rptr.....using the mic input. The RC850 with 4v P-P audio drives the GE tx easily but the Link Com RLC II is hard pressed to do it......also the speech syn has different male voices in it for "special words" like REPEATER and LINK, COMMUNICATIONS, AUTOPATCH, etc....this sucks!!!! WHY did they go with different coding voices when the same voice is available on ALL words.....the SCOM 7K has the word autopatch on it and it sounds the same as the rest of the words in both the 7K AND my RC850 (one thing I will say about ACC...they DO do it right as far as quality is concerned...now if they would cut prices by 50% and come out with a multisite adddressable link controller with a RC850 structure.....but then I dream a lot too!).... Has ANYONE had any experience with the SC-4 controller out of Nevada?? i understand it is used by the Cal-Net system along the CA Pacific Coast....The sheets I have seen on the SC4 are impressive and I have talked with one of the design techs and got some GOOD info on it (but then talk IS cheap!)...still want to find out if anyone has had any use of it and what your thoughts, comments on it are!.......It LOOKS like what I have been looking for in features and price!!......(it is almost TOO good to be true!)... Tnx for any comments you may have... 73 ¯Chris® WB5ITT --- T.A.G. 2.6c Standard * Origin: Far Point Relay Node 1 (713)463-8324 (1:106/8325@FIDONET.ORG)
