Spotter by Lionus

Spotter by Lionus (1999)

"...his head very close to Nekobe's thighs and staring straight upward.."

This pic comes from a scene from a story called "Nekobe at the Gym." It's part of a wonderful series of stories written by Rogue about a gentle innocent leonine by the name of Nekobe who comes to America. Breautifully written, the stories take you through a gamaut of emotions -- laughing, crying, depression, hope -- and when you finally come out the other end you find yourself having gained a literary friend who you have a warm feeling in knowing.

And for those of you who have not read the story yet, let me explain the picture. Nekobe's somewhat flabby human friend has been cajoled into working out at a gym. He is laying on his back on a weight bench and Nekobe has moved behind the bench to assist him with the barbell. Naturally this puts Nekobe's friend's head very close to Nekobe's thighs and in staring straight up he saw .... As a point of information a person who helps you with the weights in this way is called your 'spotter,' hence the name of the piece.

Pencil to PhotoShop. Maybe sometime in the future I will come back to this picture and lighten the much too heavy line-work."
