Alex erected a tombstone over his friend's grave. It was marked "My Dog, and My Best Friend." The dates of the dogs arrival and his death were also recorded. What remained absent was a name. In Alex's mind the only name which rolled around was the one which he had called his friend time and time again, "Lover."
